PUNE: Potholes, dug-up areas, pipelines lying on the carriage way, incomplete road-divider work, open ducts and construction material strewn around. This is the state of B.T. Kawade road in Ghorpadi-Mundhwa, which residents call a no man's land, thus reflecting on the Pune Municipal Corporation's (PMC) apathy. The PMC says it is helpless because full-scale repairs of the road cannot be undertaken until the work on storm water drains, footpaths and road-dividers is completed.
The PMC undertook temporary repairs of Rs 6 lakh in January, but that got washed away in the first bout of rain itself. The 3.5-km stretch of the road is full of potholes that were being filled by the local ward office with bricks and soil.
